Poetry & photography workshop presented at The Nature Conservancy Warhol Preserve, Montauk NY

Poet, artist and bookbinder extraordinaire, Megan Chaskey, worked with 3rd grade art students at Springs School in East Hampton, NY. They created hand-made books of their original poems.

Poet Megan Chaskey introduced art classes to writing poems, typesetting them using rubber stamps for a hand-crafted look, and turning them into personal bound books using fabric and glue.

Five East Hampton High School students returned to Springs School to design and paint a mural that merged the music and art room together. The project is supervised by Foundation director Kate Rabinowitz and art teacher Colleen Mcgowen.

Anna was due to attend summer camp in 2013 at the Indian Brook Camp at the Farm and Wilderness (F&W) Camps in Ludlow, Vermont. She had been there for two years before and had close friends. They were all looking forward to being together. Her death in June 2013 hit her camp mates very hard. In August Kate and James and I journeyed to F&W. James stopped to see friends in the Flying Cloud Camp he had attended while we met with the girls from Anna’s bunk and other friends. We sat in a silent circle as is the custom at this Quaker camp, then sat together in the arts building and made journal notebooks for each camper to remember Anna. This is some of the artwork from those journals.
